GBSAN Bushcare Update

GBSAN Bushcare group

Our Bushcare group has been actively helping to keep our highly valued granite flora free from invasive weeds these last two months, starting at the scenic gnamma hole pavement site on Goldfields Rd Amiens, with the Bushcare choir weeding away in full voice for the June engagement. For July we visited the endangered black Grevillea site along Thulimbah School Road, and we gave the site the BC treatment. Those rare plants are thriving despite the dry weather, and we can’t wait to see them flowering later in the year. Our numbers were enhanced by our latest recruit, Damien Cook, and his companion Kerry. While our regular member Lyn (aka Sweetie) missed out this month, she was well represented by Meggsie Sweet, as a photo should reveal.

So please mark your calendar for the next Bushcare Wednesday, to be held on 19th August. For this occasion, we are taking a break from weeding and holding a bush plant identification session, as part of an ongoing initiative to train ourselves up. It’s the time of year when we expect the wildflowers to start showing themselves, though you might have noticed they are rather slow to emerge this year. We haven’t fixed a venue for the session yet, but all members will be notified of the details in due course.
