Water Refill Station installed at the Stanthorpe Piazza

The new water refill station

We asked and the Council delivered! Last year we put forward a proposal to the Southern Downs Regional Council to replace the old bubbler in the Stanthorpe Piazza with a new one which you could fit a water bottle under. Our reasoning was that visitors to the area (especially at festivals like the Apple and Grape, where it’s often quite hot) have no option to fill their water bottle and wind up buying plastic bottles of water instead. Well, Council listened and they have just installed a water refill station with a bubbler low enough for wheelchair accessibility, a bottle refilling tap and a water bowl for dogs. It’s a small gesture towards sustainability but a definite step in the right direction. Thanks to the Southern Downs Regional Council. If you are looking to refill your water bottle in town, head to the Farley St Piazza.
