In May, three motion sensor cameras were purchased with funding provided by the Friend of Parks Qld.
The Tenterfield Field Naturalists Birder’s group took us for a walk in Broadwater State Forest to listen and look for what feathered creatures were afoot on 22 July.
Following on from a successful launch of the Friends of Broadwater State Forest, there was an induction morning held at the Sims Lane entrance to the forest in early June.
The Friends of Broadwater Group is GBSAN’s newest initiative, and it was launched with an enthusiastic response from more than 45 community members who value this natural landscape on the edge of Stanthorpe.
Our first field event will be held on 7 June, starting at 9:30 am at the Sims Lane entrance to the forest.

You are invited to the launch of our Friends of Broadwater group. We have received funding from Friends of Parks Qld to set up this group. The project aims to establish and support a regular volunteer programme delivering ongoing conservation work in the Broadwater State Forest.
This 6-month project will be launched on 17 May 2026, from 2:00pm at the Granite Belt Brewery. This project responds directly to community demand and provides a structured platform for stewardship. Establishing a Friends of Broadwater group will create a structured programme for volunteer involvement, environmental education, and collaborative Bushcare activities.
