Friends of Broadwater
In May, three motion sensor cameras were purchased with funding provided by the Friend of Parks Qld. These were set up during the induction with QPWS for Broadwater State Forest in early June.
The cards were changed over in mid-August and photographs sorted. There are still a few sightings to confirm but we did get one sighting of a spotted-tailed quoll!
Ten other native species were recorded.
There were five introduced species also recorded, unfortunately the fox was a common visitor to all three cameras. There is the possibility that there were only one or two foxes as all cameras were fairly close together - but more likely there are more.
There were a total of 700 photos taken over the 64 days the cameras were out this time. To help quantify the number of sightings an individual was counted as a separate sighting when the photos were more than 3 minutes apart.
Brush-tailed possums were also a plentiful visitor, and some spotlighting confirmed a healthy population (more on this one next month).
