Worm Mod Opening Saturday September 19th

GBSAN Worm Mod

The Waste and Resource Recovery Team have assembled the GBSAN Worm Mod at the Stanthorpe Farmers Markets and it's ready to receive worms! Over the next couple of weeks we will introduce 3 kg of worms into the unit and settle them into their new home. For the next year the team will monitor the worm mod's performance and keep data on inputs and outputs to guide our future concept for this project. Our aim is to divert organic matter from landfill with this demonstration site. It's a small step, but one in the right direction.

If you would like to see how the Worm Mod works you can come to the grand opening! On Saturday September 19th there will be a joint GBSAN/Border Landcare Organic Group (BLOG) event focussed on worms. Starting at 10am at the Whistlestop Community Gardens, Neil Burley from Burleys Worms near Warwick will talk about worm biology and how to succeed with your worm farm. There will be a Spring seed swap table (bring your vege seeds) and then at 12pm we will meet over the railway tracks at the Saturday Farmers Markets to open the Worm Mod and hear from John Lucas of the GBSAN Waste and Resource Recovery Team.
