GBSAN Bushcare Group Activities
Members of the GBSAN Bushcare Group combined with the SDRC (council) staff for a working bee at Heritage Park on Wednesday, 20th May. With the assistance of a chainsaw operator we managed to fill a large truckload of privet (large and small leaved species) branches, leaves and invasive vines from the popular site near the heart of Stanthorpe. Thank you to everyone involved.
Our mission for June is to revisit the site of gnamma holes and chocolate lilies at Amiens Road, adjacent to Foxbar Falls. We will meet at the corner of Goldfields and Harslett Roads at 8am on Wednesday 17th. Our main target weed is the Coreopsis daisy which likes to grow in the gnamma holes (which become rockpools following rain), suppressing the native wildflowers such as chocolate lilies that naturally occupy these granite gardens.
Bushcare and non-bushcare members are invited to join in. Please RSVP Andrew at trueunicorn11@gmail.com if you plan to come along
If you are interested in bushcare, need assistance with planting or weed management, or would like to join the group, please reach out to Andrew at trueunicorn11@gmail.com
A big thank you goes to John Lucas and Chris Sayer for their donation of hardwood stakes and tree guards.
Also a very special thanks go to Rose Coburn and Craig Reed for the donation of a trail camera – batteries that will assist with all of our Bushcare activities.
Our GBSAN Bushcare team working in partnership with the SDRC operational and parks team to clear privet, honeysuckle and blackberry along Quart Pot Creek at Heritage Park.
