BugSpace Gardener’s Network launch

Our launch of the Granite Belt BugSpace Gardener’s Network last Thursday night was a massive success with over 100 people attending! This is a joint project with GBSAN, Granite Belt Integrated Pest Management, Border Landcare Organic Group and Granite Border Landcare. Dr Anthony Rice gave a captivating talk about the perils of our invaluable invertebrates. Our first step is to build awareness of the devastating effects of neonicotine based insecticides on our insect ecology by having signs on as many properties as possible.

Thanks go to Teri Wells for her wonderful artwork.

Thanks also to the SDRC for use of the Civic Centre supper room.

Dr Ant from GB IPM, Angela Hammond from Landcare Australia and GBSAN all donated funding for printing of the first run of 30 signs. Granite Border Landcare donated the metal plates for the signs.

Many thanks to the team of bakers who provided delicious refreshments for the launch.
