For our October activity, 13 Bushcarers returned to Sentimental Rocks in Stanthorpe, where we attacked the privet and Pistachio trees, with the assistance of two SDRC Parks and Gardens employees, who came prepared with a chainsaw and truck. We managed to fill three large truckloads with branches from the plant invaders, surpassing previous efforts.
This month some of the Bushcare crew also assisted in planting trees along the Accommodation Creek Reserve, as part of the Bells Turtle project between GBSAN and Ballandean State School.
Our next major activity will be a seed collection workshop, focusing on wattles and other legumes that flowered in the early spring and are now setting seed. For this event we will meet at heritage park in Stanthorpe, on 11th November , 8am. To finish the year off we are planning some activities at the Whistlestop Community Garden, to be followed by a break-up luncheon. We start at 8am on the 2nd December.
Any GBSAN members who would like assistance with tree planting or weeding on their properties please contact Andrew at trueunicorn11@gmail.com.
