Successful EV Show & Shine
An electrifying success at Twisted Gum Wines on 22nd February. We had 16 electric cars, 12 e bikes, a robotic lawnmower, electric golf buggy, farm ATV and an electric ride on mower , not to mention the 50 or so people in attendance.
A fantastic exchange of knowledge, helpful tips and wonderful stories of trips to WA in an EV without any problems. There were practical examples of towbars, bike racks, V2L for boiling kettles, how to manage without a spare tyre and much more.
It was also gratifying to see that the representation of females was approximately 50% which is quite something for a “car event”.
There was a good discussion about the need for local venues and tourist attractions in the Southern Downs to provide EV charging and I’m sure the uptake of this will grow.
Since this event the world has unfortunately been thrown into another war and as a consequence we will see fuel prices rise and also reflect on the knowledge that Australia only has a stockpile of 29 days for vehicle fuel and diesel. Electric vehicles will help to reduce our dependence on imported fuels and therefore help with our security.
Thank you to everyone involved and a special thanks to Michelle and Tim of Twisted Gum wines for providing such a wonderful venue.
